Born in Japan, childhood in Kenya and her youth in the USA, Japan and Europe, Ryoko Sato (1972) has been in search for a coherent self, with in the knowledge that does not exist. Believing that you do not need to search far for inspiration, her work stems out of everyday experience. For Ryoko, every object and material has a story to tell. She pays attention to seemingly mundane objects and transforms them into personal and sometimes confronting work.
